![]() In 1992, 16volt’s founder and frontman, Eric Powell, signed with the Cargo Records industrial subsidiary and now infamous Re-Constriction Records. 16volt’s debut, “Wisdom,” was co-produced by David Ogilvie (Nine Inch Nails, Skinny Puppy) and Keith “Fluffy” Auerbach (Ministry) and was released in 1993. Met with worldwide acclaim from fans and press alike, “Wisdom” officially put 16volt on the map and, along with Powell, was credited with helping spawn a genre of industrial known as “coldwave.” Their most recent album titled “American Porn Songs” released on September 8th, 2009 on Metropolis Records. The album features guest appearances by Steve White (KMFDM/Pig), Jason Bazinet (Chemlab/SMP), Scott Robison (Drøne/The New Slaves), Bildeaux Sarver (OHN), Joseph Bishara (REPO!/Danzig), Jeremy Inkel (Left Spine Down/Front Line Assembly) Tim Skold (Marylin Manson/MDFMK), Sean Payne (Cyanotic/Prude), and Marc LaCorte (Powerman 5000/Black Metal Box).ĬHEMLABs first full album, Burn Out At The Hydrogen Bar was recorded in 1992 at Chicago Trax studios, and unleashed a tsunami of rave reviews from magazines as varied as Alternative Press, Raygun, Keyboard and Rolling Stone. The record torched through the charts, trashed dance floors and shoved the band out on endless tours supporting Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Skrew and many others. After countless line-up changes and finally joined by rail-gun drummer Servo, CHEMLABs next album, East Side Militia, was written and recorded with old friends William Tucker (Ministry, Foetus) and touring guitarists Geno Lenardo (pre-Filter) and Krayge Tyler. CHEMLAB took their gasoline riot shows on the road once more, touring with KMFDM, GWAR, Sister Machine Gun, 16 Volt and more. The other four members of Swamp Terrorists remained, releasing the stopgap live Five in Japan and an album of remixes named Wreck.The band features Jeremy Inkel of Industrial music legends Front Line Assembly and Noise Unit and has no shortage of firepower both on stage and in the studio. The newfound stability proved illusory STR unexpectedly left the group just after the release of 1995's Killer, and began working with a new band named Hellsau. By the time third album Combat Shock was released in 1994 (on Re-Constriction), Swamp Terrorists had gained three new members for live shows: guitarist Spring, bassist Anrej A. and STR to record their debut album, Grim-Stroke-Disease, for Machinery/Noise in 1990 Grow-Speed Injection followed one year later. After the release of one EP (He Is Guilty), Francis left, leaving Ane H. The original lineup of Swamp Terrorists included the two plus guitarist Francis H. While playing a show with the local band Tierstein, he met vocalist Ane H., and the two quickly gelled. He formed a synth-pop group named Nacht-Raum in 1983, but was using industrial guitars by the 1986 formation of Strangler of the Swamp. ![]() The band's roots go back as far as 1980, when STR began working as Band Berne Crematoire. ![]() Swamp Terrorists are a Swiss industrial group formed in the late '80s by scene veterans STR (programmer) and Ane H (vocals).
